2019: ELECTORAL COMMISSION ANNOUNCES DAPO ABIODUN AS OGUN ALL PROGRESS CONGRESS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE, BODE MUSTAPHA AS RUNNING MATE
The provisional list may not be the final approval for candidates to contest, but has just brought a temporarily stop to the controversy as who would be the Governorship Candidate of the party, between Dapo Abiodun and Adekunle Akinlade, the choice candidate of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
Penpushing recalled that, Amosun had been at logger head with some leaders of the party, who alleged him of unilaterally picking Akinlade as the party consensus candidate, a development which resulted in tparallel primaries, and eventually produced Abiodun as the party Governorship Candidate by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
However, Amosun who was not satisfy with the emergence of Abiodun had visited President Muhammed Buhari six times, for possible upturn of the National Working Committee (NWC) final decision on the candidacy, and one of such visit was inviting two traditional rulers in the State, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle to follow him to the President.
However, the rule of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gives a week ultimatum for claims and objections, to decide final eligibility of candidates to contest the forthcoming 2019 general election.
The commission also announced the name of Shittu Adeleke, a candidate produced by the Senator Buruji Kashamu faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the eligible Governorship Candidate of the party, as well as Rueben Abati as his running mate.
Penpushing also reports that,the list also Gbenga Isiaka, as the Governorship Candidate of African Democratic Congress(ADC), while his running mate is Olabisi Okeowo-Bolade, and Dimeji Bankole was listed as the Governorship flagbearer of Action Democratic Party(ADP), and the running mate is Mopelola Jato
In the same vein, Sina Kawonise, a former Commissioner of Information in the State is the Governorship Candidate of YES party, with Ganiyat Agboola as his running mate, while Segun Odegbami , a former Green Eagles Captain is seen as the Governorship Candidate of Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) and Awofala Awoniyi as his running mate
