Never stand as obstacles against yourselves, Oyo female lawmaker Oladeji, charges women

A female lawmaker, representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawunmi Oladeji has called on women not to stand as obstacle against one another.

Penpushing reports that Oladeji stated this while delivering a keynote address during the hosting of Wives of Local Government Chairmen in Egbeda Local Government, Ibadan, stressing that, they should strengthened and encourage more women into politics and governance.

“We need to search our minds and work towards supporting one another; we should not be problems to ourselves, all we are asking for is 35% affirmative action of Belgin’, Oladeji emphasised.

The only woman in the State House of Assembly also charged women in leadership positions to embark on campaign against rape, child labour, maternal and infant mortality in the country.

Penpushing further reports that the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion said the wives of local government chairmen have a major role to play in the success of their husbands, urging them to be in full support.

The lawmaker urged them to come up with ideas that will better improve the lives of the people in the grassroots, noting that citizens are closer to the local government than State or Federal Government

Penpushing also reports that the wife of Egbeda local government Chairman, Mrs Folashade Olawoyin in her remarks said the event was organized to fashion out ways to eradicate all forms of social vices including rape, ritual killings, child abuse, and sexual harassment among others.

The wife of Ajorosun Local Council Development Association( LCDA) Chairman, Mrs Sanda Abiola  also stated that ending rape and various community crimes remains pertinent to them and efforts will continue, to have a safer society.
