17 injured in Ota-Idiroko road accident

A multiple road accidents, which occurred along the Ota-Idiroko Road, Ogun State, on Saturday, resulted in seventeen travellers sustaining varying degree of injuries while the remaining fifteen people were unhurt

Penpushing reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command Florence Okpe, confirmed this explaining that the accident occurred at the Iju bridge segment of the road.

The Corps spokesperson in a statement added that thirty-two people were involved in the crash, comprising 12 male and 20 female adults, stressing that a total of three vehicles and a tricycle were involved in the multiple accident and that no life was lost

Penpushing further reports that Okpe stated that the suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the driver of a Sinotruk, adding that the driver attempted to negotiate the bend at Iju bridge at a high speed.

The statement said in the process the driver lost control before crashing into other vehicles explaining that the injured victims as at the time of filing this report had been taken to the General Hospital, Ota for medical attention.
