160 travellers feared dead in boat mishap
About 160 travellers on a boat travelling from Niger State to neighbouring Wara community in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State were involved in an accident when their boat capzised
Penpushing reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday and as at the time of filing this report many passengers including children and women, are feared dead after a boat capzised, and this was confirmed by a survivor who said the victims were yet to be rescued.
The Kebbi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Nafi’u Abubakar, said the Commissioner of Police has dispatched the police marine team to the area on a rescue mission, just as a source added that eight members of a family from Zamfara state are among those missing,
The police spokesperson added further as at the time of filing this report,the rescue operation is ongoing and details of the unfortunate incident will be communicated later to the public.
Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman of Ngaski local government area, Abdullahi Buhari, who visited the area, said over 160 people were on board the boat.
