135 Lockdown offenders convicted in Ogun state

The Mobile Court sitting in Ogun State has convicted 135 lockdown offenders, having conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace in Sagamu town,Sagamu Local Government Area of  the State

Penpushing reports that, the Court Registrar, Mr. Okayinka Adeboye, while reading the charge said the offenders deliberately ‘’failed to comply with the federal and state government’s lockdown order’’,

The offenders admitted the offence and they all pleaded guilty and also prayed the court to temper justice with mercy them.

Penpushing  also  reports that, Magistrate Adebakin Soyoye while delivering judgment cautioned and discharged 11 out of the 135 offenders, while 124 were asked to pay a fine of N1, 000 or render one hour community service.

The Head of Operation, Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Ogun State, Mr. Taofeek Babalola, speaking with journalists after the conviction of the offenders lamented the rate at which people violated the stay at home order,

Penpushing further reports that, he enjoined transport operators and residents to co-operate with the government by complying to all directives, so as to collectively stop the spread of covid-19 in the State.

Meanwhile, after the judgment, 73 paid fine and 51 performed community service.
