1,000 lobbied to be commissioners in anambra state, says Governor Soludo
The Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has disclosed that, 1,000 people showed interest to serve as commissioner under his administration after his assumption of office, just as he sworn in 20 commissioners who scaled through the screening to secure the appointments.
Penpushing reports that, Soludo made this known at the swearing in ceremony at the state executive council chamber, Government House, Awka, and charged them to deliver optimal service to the people of Anambra state
The Governor explained that, more than 22, 000 persons applied to serve in various offices, out of which more than 1, 000 indicated interest to serve as commissioners, adding that his administration would declare a state of emergency in all the sectors starting with security.
“More than 22, 000 persons applied to serve, out of which more than 1, 000 indicated interest to serve as commissioners. It is from this list that we picked the 20 commissioners and another commissioner nominee yet to be cleared by the lawmakers because I submitted his name after the initial list was sent’, he said.
Penpushing further reports that, Soludo assured that all sectors will be given due attention beginning with security which he said his government had already started doing something, adding that the assignment of portfolios to each of the new commissioners before the swearing-in was a clear departure to known tradition.
The Governor explained that the commissioners were selected based on their areas of specialization, stressing that each of the commissioner would be given his election manifesto, Anambra Vision 2070, document and the report submitted by a transition committee before his handover.
“Each of you must study the three documents because the documents constitute the template best tagged social contract with more than 15 million residents of Anambra and our people in the Diaspora,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that, he appealed to the people of the state, especially the families and close relatives of the commissioners, to ensure that they did not place much demands on them as their services were more to the state.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Sylvia Ifemeje on behalf of his colleagues thanked God and the Governor for their appointments, adding that they would not disappoint the state.
