The founding President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, who led the Southern African nation for 27 years, has been reported dead at the age of 97.
Penpushing reports that, the President of the country Edgar Lungu made this known in a message on his facebook page, adding that the entire nation mourns the death of the icon, and prayed that the entire Kaunda family be comforted
“On behalf of the entire nation and on my own behalf, I pray that the entire Kaunda family is comforted as we mourn our first president and true African icon,” President Lungu wrote on his page.
Penpushing further reports that, the first President who led Zambia since 1964 after the country gained independence from Britain had earlier been treated for pneumonia at a military hospital in Lusaka..
