
Woman dies after visiting boyfriend in Abuja
A woman identified as Esther has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend at the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory (RCT) in Abuja, an incident said to have occurred on Wednesday
Penpushing reports that a resident of the area, who gave his name as Dauda, explained that the woman left home on Wednesday to visit her boyfriend, who later called her elder brother in the night to inform him of her death.
The resident added that the boyfriend claimed he bought her food, after which she started vomiting after eating, and that the boyfriend took her to Kubwa General Hospital, where she died while receiving treatment.
“Esther left home in the afternoon on January 21, 2026, informing her sister that she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei. She, however, did not return home. Later that night, at about on the same day, his brother received an anonymous phone call from a man who identified himself as Esther’s boyfriend’. Dauda stated.

‘The caller re stated that Esther had visited him at his residence, where he bought food for her. After eating the meal, she began vomiting, prompting him to rush her to Kubwa General Hospital’, he said.
“He said Esther died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Since then, her boyfriend’s number has been switched off, same with Esther’s phone number. He didn’t also give his name or address’.
Penpushing further reports that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, when contacted confirmed the incident adding that an investigation was ongoing.
