Widow of late Western Region Military Administrator dies at 85
The wife of late Military Administrator of Western Region, Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo, Chief Mrs Modupe Adebayo has been reported dead at 85
Penpushing reports that the matriarch of the family passed on Saturday, March 8, 2025 on the eighth anniversary of the demise of her beloved husband.
The demise of the woman was contained in a statement of condolence by Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun who described her as a woman of substance and exceptional brilliance who stood by her husband through the turbulence of the military years.

Penpushing further reports that Abiodun pointed out that she equally helped him record monumental achievements in various positions, including Military Administrator, Western Region; Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy and Chief of Staff, Army (Chief of Army Staff).
“Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commiserated with the family of the late former Military Administrator of the defunct Western Region, Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo, over the passing of the matriarch of the family, Chief Mrs Modupe Adebayo”, he stated
Penpushing also reports that the Governor, said the departed matriarch of the Adebayo family worked tirelessly with other Nigerians to develop Ekiti State following the transition to civil rule in 1999, culminating in the election of her son, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, as the first democratically elected governor of Ekiti State in 1999.
“The passing of Chief Mrs Modupe Adebayo at 85, though a sad event, is one event over which we cannot but express gratitude to Almighty God for a life extremely well lived.
Mama Modupe Adebayo, wife of an extremely distinguished Army chief and Military Administrator of the defunct Western Region and mother of the first civilian governor of Ekiti State, lived a life that was a study in excellence”, Abiodun wrote.
“She was a woman of great intellect and deep faith in God who helped her husband navigate complex and challenging epochs in Nigerian history. A patriot of no mean repute, Mama also made positive contributions to our democratic experience, offering wise counsel that helped stabilise Ekiti State and the country at large’, he stated
Penpushing reports that Abiodun Abiodun Abiodun commiserated with the Adebayo family and prayed that Almighty God will grant Mama Modupe Adebayo eternal rest in His bosom.
