What an evil world—truly, people love darkness more than light

By Adegoke Adeyanju-Awoso

The petition against Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola (Yayi) — despite his outstanding achievements and unprecedented development strides across Ogun State — should have been a source of joy and celebration for all. Unfortunately, the opposite is the case. Only those who truly know God and walk in His light can appreciate the success of others without envy or bitterness. Even within families — between siblings, parents, and even spouses — jealousy often thrives, let alone in the political arena, which is filled with rivalry, deceit, and selfish ambition.

When Jesus Christ was arrested and crucified despite His miracles and good works, Pilate himself found no fault in Him. Yet, the people chose to release two criminals and demanded the death of the Righteous One. This shows indeed that “omo araye feran okunkun ju imole lo” — mankind loves darkness more than light.

Senator Yayi, please do not be discouraged or weary in doing good. As you once declared, you will never compromise the liberation of your people regardless of circumstances. We believe deeply in your vision and mission for Ogun State ahead of 2027.

You are indeed God-sent and chosen for this time. This is clearly reflected in the Scriptures — *1 Chronicles 22:7-10* — where God told King David that though he had prepared everything to build the temple, it would be his son Solomon who would fulfill the mission. In the same way, God has chosen you to complete what others before you could not.

For years, many noble sons of Ogun West have aspired to lead Ogun State, but for one reason or another, they were unable to take us to the promised land. Some even lost their lives in the process — may their souls rest in peace. However, we are confident that your case is different. As Ogun State approaches its Golden Jubilee in February 2026, the signs are clear: your wide acceptability across the three senatorial districts — Ogun West, Central, and East — and the support from key leaders, including those from the opposition who have joined the APC, all testify that you are the chosen vessel.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, for recognizing the leadership potential in you and for being instrumental in bringing you back home from Lagos politics to serve your fatherland. Unlike his predecessor who resisted your return, Governor Abiodun acted at the divinely appointed time. Through his support — and your position as Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — Ogun West and indeed Ogun State have witnessed remarkable transformation. Within just two years, you have tackled over 30% of the infrastructural and developmental challenges facing Ogun West. This is a true testament to your capacity and fairness — qualities that will guide you as you lead Ogun State from 2027 by God’s grace.

On behalf of the people of Ogun West, we say a heartfelt *thank you* to Governor Dapo Abiodun for giving us Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi in 2023. We also thank you in anticipation for your continued support as he succeeds you in 2027. Yayi stands today as the most popular, most acceptable, and most credible contender within the APC — and the only candidate feared even by the opposition, including Hon. Ladi Adebutu (LADO) of the PDP.

May the will of God be done.

May Ogun State continue to prosper.

And may light always triumph over darkness.

God bless Ogun State.

God bless Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.
