TRIBUNAL ORDERS ARREST OF ONNOGHEN, SUSPENDED CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Danladi Umar, issued the bench warrant following the absence of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) in court, emphasizing that; he (Onnoghen) must be available for arraignment on February 15.

Penpushing further reports that, the Tribunal boss had at the last sitting informed the defence team that Code of Conduct Tribunal would need the accused to be present at the next adjourned date, which is Wednesday (February 13), and this was after counsel to the accused filed an application arguing that the tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to try the Chief Justice.

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), however, declared that any application against the jurisdiction of the court would only be entertained after the plea of the accused has been taken.
