
Tinubu meets reinstated Lagos State Speaker Obasa, other lawmakers in Abuja
The Nigeria’s President President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, met with the reinstated Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudasiru Obasa over the state of affairs of the assembly, which sources maybe to discuss the leadership crisis that rocked the House since January.
Penpushing reports that Obasa alongside his Deputy Hon Mojisola Meranda and other lawmakers of the troubled house of assembly arrived at about 2pm to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Capital Territory(FCT).
The meeting between President Tinubu and the lawmakers which details remain unclear as at the time of filing this report ended around 4 p.m, as Obasa declined to speak with journalists.
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Obasa was on January 13, 2025 removed as the speaker by his colleagues over allegations of financial misappropriation and high-handedness,while his Deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was voted as speaker to replace him.
The impeached speaker contested his removal, and labelled it as illegitimate, and following the intervention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and President Tinubu, as claimed in some quarters , Meranda announced her resignation during a plenary session,thereafter Obasa was reinstated as Speaker and Meranda sworn in as Deputy Speaker.
