Students block Abeokuta-Lagos expressway over abduction of colleagues

The students of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State, on Wednesday blocked the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in protest of the reported abduction of two of their colleagues by gunmen

Penpushing reports that, the protesters in their hundreds accused police of non-challance towards abduction of their colleagues, an incident alleged to have happened in their hostel situated in Afowowa area,  Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The angry students said the gunmen attack at the hostel lasted for over three hours, and that despite distress call they made to the police, the authorities failed to respond, as the attacked operated unchecked, and also made away with laptops, money, and other valuables.

“We called the police but there was no response. Later, the police said their vehicle was not in good condition. When they finally arrived, they said the students should lead in facing the gunmen. One of the students was shot in the leg and others were badly injured. That is why we took to the street to protest”, one of the protesters said

Penpushing further reports that, as at the time of filing this report, when the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi was contacted said he was yet to be aware of the incident.
