SENATOR ADELEKE ARRAIGNS FOR FAKING IDENTITY TO WRITE EXAMINATIONS, COURT ORDERS SEIZURE OF INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT

The first count of the charge, the accused persons are alleged to have conspired to commit felony, an offence contrary to section 10 of the Examination Malpractice Act 2004,while in. the second count, the officials of the school are accused of registering the first accused  and his brother as students in the school, “when they ought to have known that they are not students of the community school.”

In the same vein, the third count, has it that the defendants are accused of allegedly “parading themselves as students of the school after allegedly registering themselves fraudulently to partake in the examination in the school.”

Penpushing also reports that, in the fourth count, the arraigned officials of the school are accused of breaching the examination regulations by registering the Adelekes, “when they ought to have known that the two of them are not students in the school.

The lead accused Adeleke was alleged of impersonation, but when the charges were read to all accused they pleaded not guilty, however, the court slated December 17 for the continuation of the trial of the Senator, Ademola Adeleke.

Penpushing further reports that, while Adeleke  was granted bail on own-recognizance, the second and third defendants were granted bail with a bond of N2 million each, and  the court equally ordered them to present two sureties in like sum, with landed properties in Abuja.

The judge I.E Ekwo said the properties are to be verified by the court registrar while  the defendants whose bails were approved are not to travel abroad, except by the permission of the court.

Penpushing reports that, the court, on Adeleke’s bail  ordered him to write an undertaking that he will always attend his trial, and  also told to submit his International passport to the court registrar.

However, Alex Izinyon, the lawyer representing Adeleke informed the court about an application for bail of his client dated October 12,adding that his client was granted administrative bail by the prosecution and that the defendant has not attempted to jump the bail.

Similarly, the counsels representing the other defendants, Nathaniel Oke, and Abdulsalam Abdulfatah, also made a similar application.

Penpushing reports that, the judge,  attended to the written applications for bail of the second and third defendants, but he refused an oral application from Oke for bail of the fourth and fifth defendants.

Meanwhile, the case was adjourned till December 17 to 19 for commencement of trial.
