RULING HOUSE ALLEGES KINGMAKERS OF PLOT TO IMPOSE MONARCH ON IBESE COMMUNITY
‘My name is Simeon Oluremi Ige, an offspring of the Oloko family of Ibese, whose turn it is now to occupy the vacant throne of Ibese. Also in the name of the family and for and on their behalf, I hereby confirm that Prince Azeez Adedimeji Idowu of the male line of the Oloko family is the family’s sole nominee for the vacant throne’, he stated
The family head explained that Idowu’s selection was as a result of the divine guidance sought by the family on the suitability or otherwise of the various candidates from the family suggested for the vacant throne.
‘All the divine outfits consulted unanimously pronounced Prince Azeez Adedimeji Idowu as the most qualified and most suitable of them all. On at least three occasions, starting from September, 2017,Prince Azeez Adedimeji Idowu was accordingly presented to Ibese community’.
Penpushing further reports that, the family head stated that, the presentation was made known to the Chiefs, kingmakers, youths and elders, adding that, Idowu was tumultuously received by them all, having publicly acknowledged him as their favourite candidate for the vacant throne.
‘As for the other candidates namely; Alexander Idowu,Mustapha Bankole and Rotimi Mulero, they were neither nominated nor presented by Oloko family’, he said, adding that ‘with particular reference to Mulero, his candidature was unanimously rejected by the Oloko family’
The Head of the family argued that, Rotimi Mulero rejection was because the Mulero family, who hail from the female line of Oloko family, are barred outright from access to the throne by the 1957 Ibese Chieftaincy Declaration.
Penpushing also reports that, the Oloko family, alleged three of the kingmakers for reasons best known to them, unilaterally and arbitrarily selected Rotimi Mulero for the vacant throne, ‘even though they are fully aware that he is clearly disqualified by the 1957 declaration’.
The Oloko family declared that, the action of the kingmakers was illegal which holds no water, and passionately called on the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to call them to order in the interest of the community and the State.
‘The purpose of this statement is three fold; to set the record straight, to humbly request our new Governor, His Excellency Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun(MFR) to help ensure that no act of illegality is perpetrated at Ibese through the deliberate flouting of the 1957 Ibese Chieftaincy Declaration, and to call on all and sundry to join hands with the legally constituted authorities to preserve communal peace and tranquility at Ibese’
‘Meanwhile, on behalf of the Oloko family, I hereby assert once again that Prince Azeez Adedimeji Idowu is the sole candidate duly selected and supported by the family’ Ige emphasized in the two pages statement.
