Armed robbers on Thursday attacked two generation banks located in the same vicinity in Iree, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State allegedly killing two persons while an unspecified amount was carted away.
Penpushing reports that, witness account has it that, the suspected armed robbers arrived at the two banks at 3:50 p.m. and carried out the illegal operations for about 30 minutes, adding that a police officer attached to one of the banks was shot dead
The source added that, the gang, after the operations escaped the crime scene through Iree-Ada Road, having engaged the police in a gun duel, a development which forced many running helter skelter
Penpushing further reports that, Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident adding that as at the time of filing this report she was yet to ascertain the number of casualties.
The police spokesperson said the command had deployed some of its officers to the area and were after the fleeing suspected armed robbers, adding that the runaway gang abandoned their operation vehicles at the scene.
