Penpushing media partners women group in fight against rape

The Penpushing Media has partnered with a women group under the banner of Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN), in a joint fight against rape and rapists across the globe.

Penpushing reports that towards this  a zoom virtual meeting has been arranged with proactive panelists  comprising  women of substance, and scheduled to hold on Sunday, June 28,2020, with the theme, ’Enough is Enough’, End  Rape Now, A Collective Responsibility for All’

The statement from the organizers stated that the well packaged webinar is scheduled to take off 2.00pm, while participants are to join the meeting after an  online registration on  website https:tinyurl.com/womenproff

Penpushing further reports that, the panelists include: Iyalode Alaba Lawson (Global Convener), Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi(National Chairman, Transition Monitoring Group, who is to serve as the moderator), Funke Fadugba(Chairman, Editorial Board, Penpushing Media) and Barrister  Joanne

The other panelists are: Prof Yemisi Obilade(Former Vice Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education,Ijebu-Ode), Peju Osoba, former Country Director,Terre de homes foundation), Affi Ibanga(COO Women and Professional Development Network), Stella Jibrin(Director, Research and Documentation, Nigeria Press Council) and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim(Founder, Women in Logistics and Transportation)

Penpushing reports that, the Global Convener, Iyalode Alaba Lawson in a statement ahead of the meeting thanked all panelist s and members for answering to the clarion call on this menace called rape, which almost turning the world upside down.

‘I thank you all for answering the clarion call on this menace called rape. It is wuite unfortunate that young girls and even babies are being raped every second now. Elderly women are also traumatized, young boys are not left out’, she said.

‘Therefore, there is need to wage war against rapists to stop this murderous act by asking for capital punishment for rapists. It would serve as deterrent for would be rapists. For this course for the death penalty to be turned to law’

‘We have written to the Senate President, Hon Speaker of the House of Representatives, the first lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, all Governors wives, all female Senators, UNWomen representative, as well as UNIDO Director in Nigeria and ECOWAS and other personalities’

‘We are not going to rest, we will continue to educate our girls and women. They must be able to speak out. I shared this view with some core members that spurred us to action until the lawmakers would pass the death penalty unto rapists. I urge all of us to unite to defeat and conquer this menace of rape and defilement’, Lawson emphasized.
