Pa Kasumu To Be Buried In April

The remains of the late veteran Nollywood Actor, Olukayode Odumosu, popularly called Pa Kasumu, wil on Friday, April 3, finally interred in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital,as announced by  Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, on his social media page in the early hours of Wednesday, March 4.

Penpushing reports that, Fabiyi in the announcement said, the burial is slated for the 2nd and 3rd of April in Abeokuta, and promised to give further details later, as at the time of filing this report on Wednesday evening.

The popular Yoruba actor, died at the age of 66 on Sunday evening at a private Hospital located  in Lantoro area of  Abeokuta, after a prolonged heart ailment, which the deceased had earlier attributed to spiritual

Penpushing reports that the death of the veteran Nollywood actor, was made known by his son, Tunde Odumosu, who confirmed that his father gave up the ghost at about 12.30 p.m, while on his way to Abeokuta to see him, following report of his deteriorating health condition.

The bereaved son who resident in Lagos said, “I was called that his condition had deteriorated on Friday but when I called him he didn’t sound so frail. I recall him asking me when I was going to come to Abeokuta and I told him I was coming on Sunday. I was told he was taken to the General Hospital in Abeokuta but they had so many emergencies and he couldn’t be attended to’.

“So they took him to a private hospital. I was headed to hospital to see him when I was called that he had just passed on. I was already in Abeokuta at the time. His death is so painful but I take solace in the fact that he lived a great life and is currently resting at the bosom of the lord”.

Penpushing further reports that, a popular Yoruba actress, Foluke Daramola, Daramola launched a lifeline for ailing and other aging Nollywood veterans in December 2019, which is tagged.‘Nolly veteran SOS Project 2019’, and Pa Kasumu was one of the beneficiaries of the initiative.

The late Pa Kasumu, a household name in the Yoruba movie industry was in 2013 diagnosed with heart ailment, and had featured in several movies in his heydays, but  has been off the public radar for over ten years .  .

Penpushing recalled that, Pa Kasumu in 2017 after his return from India on a medical trip, experienced a worsen health condition, and was billed to return to India two months after the initial trip, his missing passport  had prevented him from doing so.

The health condition further got worsen that, the family had to move him from his home in Abeokuta to his elder sister’s residence at Aseese  community located   off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State

Penpushing also reports that, Odumosun , an indigene of Ogun State was born on March 16, 1953 in Agbeni area of Ibadan, Oyo State, and  started his career at age 15; taking up challenging roles on stage under the tutelage of Elder Ayinla Olumegbon .

The late Pa Kasumu  met Olumegbon through his uncle popularly called Brother Simbat, and  got baptized through a stage play entitled Iyawo Orun in 1968,while some of his memorable works include Babie Á (2003), Jesu Mushin (2002) and Sàngó: The Legendary African King (1998).
