OYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT WORKERS TO BOYCOTT WORK AHEAD OF MONDAY RESUMPTION OF SACKED ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS CHAIRMEN

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE), Oyo State has directed its members to stay away from work ahead of Monday resumption, a development said to be the fallout over the sacked All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmen in the State who have been directed to resume.

Penpushing reports that the directive was issued by the President of the union in the State, Comrade Titilola Sodo after an emergency meeting with the union members which was held on Saturday at the union secretarial located located in Challenge area, Ibadan.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Adamu ,it is recalled has earlier directed the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Shina Olukolu to ensure ease resumption of the sacked All Progressives Congress(APC) Chairman on Monday, even when the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier announced their sack from office.

“We have been getting series of disturbing information from all quarters but we don’t know its authenticity, and we have reason to be apprehensive to the safety of our members in case they go to work and there is a clash between the two parties’.

“Today, we had a meeting in order to safeguard the lives of our people and ensure their security, they should keep away themselves from work until the issue is resolved and we know the exact person we are working for.”

Penpushing further reports that Sodo emphasised that no members of the union should be at work by Monday till further notice, and until the unclear situation is cleared and their security and safety is guaranteed.

The union leader pointed out that there was a similar case few month ago where one party wanted to take over the local government secretariat when other party are still occupying the seat, and there was confrontations where some union member were beaten and injured.

“This directive is from the State Executive Council (SEC) which is the highest authority of the union in the state, we just concluded the SEC meeting, we have earlier had the State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting, we reviewed the situation on ground as unfolded, so far,  we follow the outcome from various quarters’

Penpushing further reports that, he however, said that the directive is for the best interest of the members for them to stay away from work before their working place is turn to a battle ground.
