OYO GOVERNMENT VOWS TO DEAL WITH PERPETRATORS OF IDI-ARERE GANG CLASH

The Deputy Governor, Otunba Moses Adeyemo who represented his boss added that the government was ready to do thorough investigation and make sure that those who are involved in the incident are punished and never go free..

Hear him ‘on behalf of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, we commiserate with the victim of these incidents, our administration take security of life’s and properties of our people as its top priority, we all knew what the security of this State had been before we came in, now we have been able to restore peace and harmony back in Oyo State’.

“What happened was destructive and ungodly, those who are involved in this incident are enemies of the people, and they want to put the achievements of this government into mud, the perpetrators of this incident want to spoil the peace of this State, that has been restored back in the last seven and half years of our administration’.

The Deputy Governor, however urged the people to cooperate with the government and the police to fish out those who are behind the incident, stressing that government was ready to find out and investigate what caused the incident and ensure that such incident did not happen in future, noting that government will also give adequate assistance to the victims who lost their properties.

Penpushing further reports that, Kolawole Sodeinde, a resident of the area while speaking with journalists said the gang came to the area around 2am with cutlasses and two riffles, adding that he quickly reported the case to Mapo Police station since he did not have anybody with him to stop them.

Hear him, “It take efforts of some people before the fire can be able to put off, or else, the fire would have engulfed all the houses around this area and the losses would have been more than these.

He recalled that the gang came with a can of petrol and sprayed  the houses and shops before setting them ablaze, noting that those who perpetrated the act initially looted the houses and shops before setting them on fire.

Penpushing also reports that, another resident in Isale-Asaka area of the town, identified as  Mrs. Oduntan  said 12 shops were burnt and looted as a result of a clash that happened between a rival group.

 

She pointed out that there are some boys in the area that used to come to a joint in the area, and they had misunderstanding which later metamorphosed into   the destruction, looting and setting of the 12 shops ablazed. “These boys are also robbers; they set these shops on fire after looting and robbing the owners of their valuables.

Another resident of Iyana Adisa, Oja-Igbo, Mrs. Olayinka Adelakun who was also a victim said that some youths who put on black clothes invaded area last week Thursday at 8pm, pointing gun to people and a harassing them before looting their shops and robbing them of their valuables and later set the shops and houses on fire.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude has urged the people to give credible and necessary information to the police so that more of the perpetrators can be arrested and face the law, pointing out that 11 suspects were already arrested with their gang leaders, stating that they would be charge to court after the conclusion of investigation.
