Osoba’s intervention doused my anxiety during All Progressives Congress national convention, says aspirant

An aspirant in the just concluded National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of National Secretary, Prof. Abideen Olaiya has affirmed the wisdom of former Governor Olusegun Osoba, as major reasons why he stepped down from the race.

Penpushing reports that, Olaiya from Oyo State made this known in a press statement adding that he appreciated the genuine and leadership intervention of Osoba, for his peaceful withdrawal from the contest.

“The process of consensus building I learnt was followed to the letter in case of Chairmanship aspirants while that of the Secretary was observed in the breach, hence the ugly scenario that came up. Nobody reached out to me, I was prepared for the election only for me to read about the consensus list on social media”, he recalled

Penpushing further reports that, Olaiya emphasized that he appreciated the efforts of those who approached him, particularly, Osoba, a leader of the party to break the ice, and eventually doused his anxiety

The aspirant reactions came shortly after the conclusion of the party’s electoral process which produced Abdullahi Adamu, Senator representing Nasarawa West, as National Chairman of the party and Senator Iyiola Omisore (Osun State) as National Secretary.

“At this juncture, I must acknowledge the efforts and intervention of our leader Chief Segun Osoba, Hons. Rotimi Makinde, Ajibola Famurewa, Opeyemi Bamidele who were the first set of people who approached me to break the ice. Also, Alhaji. Akin Olajide, Oyo State Chairman Chief Isaac Omodewu and Hon Akeem Akogun’

Penpushing also reports that, Olaiya, however, bemoaned the approach of some of the South-West leaders of the party in the manner they handled the politics of interest compared to their Northern counterparts and positions zoned to their geo-political zones, stressing that the intervention of Osoba softened his mind.
