Ondo state secretary to government resigns

The Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, has tendered his letter of resignation from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration, explaining that his decision to quit was personal.

Penpushing reports that, he thanked Akeredolu for offering him the opportunity to serve the state, but did not affirmed if he was also going to resign his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).

The Government source, however said the Governor and Abegunde had been at loggerhead for over a month over issues surrounding the second term ambition of Akeredolu, adding that he(Abegunde) had shunned series of government activities in the past few weeks.

Penpushing further reports that, Abegunde resignation is coming weeks after Agboola Ajayi, the Deputy Governor resigned his membership with All Progressives Congress (APC)  and left for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Deputy Governor has recently been screened to contest for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) primary, while on Sunday, he asked  the Governor to hand over to him having tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, Governor  Akeredolu is yet to react to the resignation of the  Secretary to the State Government, while the Ondo State Governorship election is scheduled to hold in October.
