Olorunda residents protest alleged interference by neigbouring Imala community

Residents of Olorunda town in Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun State trooped out to stage a peaceful protest, alleging persistent interference by Imala leaders in their land and community development projects.

Penpushing reports that the protesters armed with placards of various inscriptions such as “Stop Disrupting Olorunda’s Growth,” “Imala Leaders, Respect Our Boundaries,” “Our Land, Our Right,” and “Government Must Act Now,” went round major streets in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The protesters led by, Secretary of Olorunda Descendant Union (ODU), Engr. Oluwarotimi Olaegbe were sighted in Abeokuta North local government headquarters and Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre to express their displeasure

Penpushing further reports that they emphasized and alleged unrelenting campaign by some individuals from Imala and its affiliated villages to undermine Olorunda’s growth and authority, stressing that they have been subjected to intimidation for years

“For years, we have endured intimidation and unnecessary interference from the leadership of Imala town. They have tried to take over our land, frustrate our development projects, and even prevent the commissioning of our customary court,” Olaegbe stated.

Penpushing also reports that the Secretary of Olorunda Descendant Union (ODU) lamented that despite multiple peaceful engagements, Imala’s leadership had remained adamant, a development which Olorunda residents to take to the streets to seek justice.
