Ogun state records 108 coronavirus cases, jumps to 4th position in Nigeria
The Ogun State Government has recorded a sudden jump in the cases of coronavirus with record of 108 discovered cases as at Tuesday, and thereby on fourth position of the ladder in the country while Lagos State still maintained its first position with another record of 170
Penpushing reports that, this was contained on the update on coronavirus as released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Tuesday night, with breakdown which also showed records of other states.
The Ogun State Government had about two weeks ago relaxed the lockdown order to Saturdays and Sundays, while Mondays to Fridays declared as ‘open day’, for residents to go on their normal businesses till evening of every day.
Penpushing further reports, the Tuesday records have turned out as most shocking for Ogun State, since the outbreak of the coronavirus, while findings also showed that level of compliance against the pandemic by the residents have been at lower ebb, after the relaxation order.
The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at a press conference sometime expressed disappointment on the non-challance of residents to comply with the guidelines against the pandemic, and declared that anybody caught, not putting on face mask will be arrested and transfers to isolation centres
‘Let me restate that all the existing guidelines to combat COVID-19 in the State remain in place. Some of which are: all 5 working days in the week (Monday to Friday) are still opened for businesses and other economic transactions with only Saturday and Sunday as lockdown days’, Abiodun said
‘Observation of dusk-to-dawn curfew as directed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) i.e. between 10.00pm and 4.00am daily; Restrictions on Interstate travel are still in force. Wearing of face masks in the public is still mandatory’, he emphasised
‘Only one passenger is still allowed for motorcycles and two passengers only for tricycles;Taxi cabs and buses still have 60% limitation on their carrying capacity and the measure to arrest and impound any driver that contravenes this in our State is in force’, the governor declared
Penpushing reports that Abiodun emphasized that, task force in markets must continue to ensure physical distancing, availability of hand washing facilities and use of gloves in addition to facemasks for traders.
‘Fumigation will continue in our markets and other public places; Limitation of all gatherings to a maximum number of 20, is still in effect; Gyms, event centres, cinemas, arcades, bars, casinos, nightclubs, swimming pools, barber-shops, spas, beauty Salons, and all public parks, including those in private residential , are still not; allowed to operate
‘Restaurants are permitted to provide only take-away services and should also ensure that there are no more than 10-15 customers at a time with physical distancing. Guidelines for eat-in services are still being fine-tuned’
‘All industries in Ogun State must continue to comply with the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines for Workplaces in Ogun State to Combat COVID-19 as issued by the Ministry of Health in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments.
‘Therefore, testing of staff for COVID-19 in all industries in the State must be sustained;The Task Force set up to conduct random spot checks on the premises of the industries, restaurants and other business enterprises to confirm compliance is still in operation.
Penpushing also reports that, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) on the update, as at Tuesday showed that,Bauchi 69 cases, Ebonyi 49,Edo 33,Rivers 30, Abuja 26,Jigawa 26, Delta 20 and Anambra 17.
Meanwhile,the records of other states have it that,Gombe 16, Kano 16, Imo 15,Abia 14,Borno 11, Oyo 11,Plateau 8, Kebbi 6,Kaduna 6,Ondo 4,Niger 2, Kastina 2,Osun 1,Ekiti 1, Kwara 1 and Nasarawa 1
