Ogun state government announces 3 months traffic diversion on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

The Ogun State Ministry of Transportation has announced a traffic diversion plan along the old tollgate to Berger section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to ongoing construction work along the Lagos-Sagamu Expressway axis of the State.

Penpushing reports that a statement by Information Officer Ministry of Transport, Oluwayemisi Onanuga said the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, made this known, explaining that, road works by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing will begin at the Kara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leading to a traffic diversion between January 30 to April 15, 2023.

The statement added that Dairo said, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has agreed with the Ogun and Lagos State governments to take necessary measures to minimize disruption during the construction period, concurring that three operational lanes will be maintained for motorists at all times.

Penpushing further reports that the commissioner disclosed that the traffic queue lengths will be monitored and action will be taken if they exceed agreed thresholds, and in addition, fuel stations along the construction area will be temporarily closed to avoid long queues and interference with traffic flow.

The Commissioner in the statement assured the public that the state government is dedicated to promoting road safety and convenience while urging them to cooperate with traffic enforcement officers on the road.

“Motorists and road users are advised to be understanding and cooperate with TRACE, FRSC, LASTMA, NSCDC, and police operatives who will be stationed along the diversion route to ensure the safety of everyone during the construction period”,  he stated.
