OGUN SET TO DEWORM SCHOOL CHILDREN, OFFSETS EIGHT YEARS ELECTRICITY BILL OFHEALTH FACILITIES

The release called on, parents and guardians on need to ensure that their children are well-fed during the period and give consent to school authorities for their wards to be dewormed, with appeal on stakeholders to support the programme.

Penpushing further reports that, the statement  implored school proprietors, Non-Governmental Organizations, Community-Based Organizations, religious, traditional, community and market leaders to sensitize residents of the State on the benefits of deworming their children, adding that the medicines are free, safe, beneficial to their wellbeing, will improve their ability to assimilate and perform better in school.

The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in a related development has approved the release of funds to offset accumulated electricity bill owed by some government health facilities across the State in the last eight years, which had led to their disconnection from the national grid of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

The Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr Nafiu Aigoro made this known while inspecting general hospitals and health facilities at Odogbolu and Ikenne Local Government Areas of the State, and enjoined management of the hospitals to promptly pay up all utility bills in their various facilities, as the present administration was leaving no stone unturned at improving the health sector.

The Chief Medical Director, Odogbolu General Hospital,  Dr Adekoya Somade, appreciated the Governor for the kind gesture, saying the reconnection would aid smooth running in hospitals and effective service delivery to patients, as well as facilitate increased patronage of public hospitals.
