Ogun government receives rescued kidnapped students

The Ogun State Government on Wednesday received the rescued two female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Precious Adeyemo(21) and Abiola Oyefule(21)who were abducted on Sunday night by gunmen in Ayetoro town  Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.

Penpushing reports that, the victims who spent three days in captivity with their abductors after regaining freedom on Tuesday night were led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police,Abiodun Alamutu, accompanied by their parents to Governor’s office Okemosan,Abeokuta, where government officials led by Commissioner for information, Alhaji Waheed Odusile  received them  to officially announced their return to the public.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, at a press conference held at Ogun State Head of Service Conference hall said, the government was happy about the safe return of the girls and commended the police and other security agencies for the proactive measures and professionalism skills in rescuing the victims.

 Penpushing further reports that, Odusile said the abduction of the innocent undergraduates gave the governor sleepless nights, hence, his directive to security agencies to ensure speedy rescue of the victims, which he expressed satisfaction about, stressing that, the government will not relent in further efforts to combat crimes and criminals in the state.

The Commissioner said no ransom was paid for the bandits before the rescue as being speculated, adding that government also tasked residents to be cautious of their safety at all time, and assured that those behind the kidnap will be arrested and brought to book in due course.

Penpushing also reports that, after the press conference which also had in attendance Commissioners for Education, Health and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, both the victims and their parents declined to grant interview to journalists
