OGUN COUNCILLORS FALLS APART OVER ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE
Penpushing reports that, this led to parallel congress which produced Dapo Abiodun, said to be the choice of the party elders and leaders as the Governorship Candidate of the party, and was the one approved by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party.
In another development the other parallel congress said to belong to Governor Ibikunle Amosun produced Adekunle Akinlade, with a claim and declaration that he is the authentic Governorship Candidate of the party
However the loyalists of Abiodun led by Adewale Aka while speaking said they remain loyal to the party as well as Dapo Abiodun, who is the Governorship Candidate of the party as recognized by the party leadership
He emphasized that, the councilors across the twenty local government area have resolved to mobilize for Dapo Abiodun success at poll as well as second term of President Muhammed Buhari.
Similarly, All Progressives Congress, (APC) Caucus Whip at the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ojuri called on Governor Amosun to throw his weight behind Dapo Abiodun, rather than continue to beat a dead horse, and also charged his colleagues to work tirelessly for the party’ victory
The factional councilors said to be loyalists of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in their protest held an emergency meeting over the reported backing some of their colleagues gave Dapo Abiodun as the party’s Governorship Candidate in the State.
The Councilors led by the House Leader of Remo North Local Government Area Legislative Council, Jide Opafola described the emergence of Abiodun as daylight robbery, allegedly linked to the National Working Committee (NWC’s) of the party.
Penpushing reports that, Opafola demanded pictorial evidence of 276 Councillors who reportedly declared support for Abiodun, adding that “we know ourselves. Let them provide pictorial evidence of the 276 councilors. Failure to do so means they are living in the fools’ paradise,”
The faction pledged their ‘unalloyed support’ for Akinlade, and vowed that the Councilors would not allow their mandate give to Amosun’s be stolen “through the back door.”
Also contributing, Adedayo Babajuwon, a councilor from Ijebu-Mushin Ward II, Ijebu East Central LCDA, declared that only “visible and tenable” Governorship primary held in the State was the one which produced Akinlade as candidate.
“Contrary to the rumours going on in some quarters, we are not coerced to do this. We are not paid and we are not under pressure to do this. But he who comes to equity must come with clean hands.
“I want to say unequivocally that all of us seated here, we are demanding that the mandate given to Akinlade should be returned to him or else hell will be let loose. I want to say on behalf of my colleagues that what the NWC has done is nothing but a daylight robbery and we are saying no until they return it.”
