NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION CALLS FOR POLITICAL, EDUCATION, CULTURAL RESTRUCTURING IN NIGERIA

According to him, “Today’s Workshop is to sensitise the citizenry on the need to reshaping Nigeria’s political, Education and cultural institutions for better enhancement, I hereby call for political, education and cultural restructuring for the nation to move forward.”

Penpushing further reports that, Adeleke noted that the theme of the workshop is “Promoting Nigerian Civic, Cultural, Educational Values, Sensitisation on the Need To Be Proactive in Civic Duties’, adding  that the body was concerned on how to achieve Nigeria of our dream.

The Chairman stated that this also includes stressing for the need to ensure good governance, educational prospect and cultural enhancement, noting that, “just as we are asking for good governance where government will be accountable to the people, our education and culture must also be giving impetus.”

Penpushing also reports that, also speaking at the event was Dr Niyi Olayinka,  who is a lecturer of Political Science Department from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, calling for a reform of Nigeria politics, whereby monetization of Democracy will be discouraged, removal of immunity clause, as well as reducing the cost of governance.

“The present system whereby political officeholders will be on full time collecting heavy payment, they should be on part-time service earning only allowances”,Olayinka emphasised

The Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Bayo Lawal, in his remark said that there is a need for Nigeria to correct the ills of her political, education and cultural institutions, reiterated that the nation must be transformed to be a productive economy.

Penpushing reports that, participants at workshop include representatives of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Oyo State Ministry of Education, Nigeria Union of Teachers and SUBEB, as well as Students from Bayanatudeen Model College Yidi Arola, Apete, Ibadan and Ebony Group of Schools, Ologuneru, Ibadan.
