Nigerian highlife musician, Victor Olaiya, is dead

A Nigerian highlife music doyen Victor Abimbola Olaiya, who ruled the music world for decades  has died on Wednesday in  Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) , Lagos State at the age of 89

Penpushing reports that, Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Ltd, Bimbo Esho made the news of death known, and wrote, “we pray that the Doyen of highlife music find repose with the creator’

The Director who is the daughter of highlife music enthusiast, Femi Esho added, ‘while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. And to my namesake Abimbola Olaiya I will miss your contribution to highlife music”.
