NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS, OGUN COUNCIL CARETAKER COMMITTEE RAISES ALARM OVER ALLEGED ILLEGAL CONDUCT OF SACKED EXECUTIVE

The attention of the NUJ caretaker committee has been drawn to the purported activities of the disbanded exco of the NUJ, Ogun state council including soliciting for financial assistance from Individual and organizations’, the statement said.

Penpushing further reports that, the caretaker committee declared the conduct of the disbanded executive was a clear case of impersonation and called on general public to be wary of such illegal visit and request

‘The caretaker committee wants to state categorically that it has not sent anyone out to solicit for financial assistance or otherwise on behalf of council. The caretaker committee therefore advise the general public to be wary of the antics of the ex-exco who have been misrepresenting/impersonating the Caretaker committee to defraud unsuspecting individuals, institutions and organizations’.

The statement emphasized that, the sanctity of the profession must be protected and the integrity of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) must not be compromised, stating that, ‘by the authority of the CWC of the NUJ the erstwhile exco remain dissolved and therefore ceased to exist since May 7, 2019 and has since been replaced with a five – member caretaker committee’.
