Man matchetes 50 year old woman to death
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27 year old man, Ejike Okata for allegedly matchening a 50 year old female neighbor Adeyiba Oladipupo , to death in Ayegbami area of Ijebu Ode town of the State
Penpushing reports that, he Command Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Sunday, adding that the suspect was arrested following a report by the younger brother of the deceased who reported at Obalende Police Station Ijebu- Ode that his elder sister was matcheted to death by his neighbor over a minor argument and that the suspect has ran away immediately after the incident.
“Upon the report, the DPO Obalende Division CSP Omonijo Sunday mobilized his detectives to the scene where the corpse of the victim was recovered and taken to ijebu ode general hospital mortuary for autopsy, while serious manhunt was launched for the fleeing suspect”, Oyeyemi said
The Command spokesman said the efforts of the detectives yielded positive result on March 1, 2020 when the suspect was about boarding an Ebonyi State bound vehicle, but was apprehended by policemen who have already laid ambush for him due to intelligence information they already have about him.
“On interrogation, the suspect who hailed from Onueke in Eza South Local Government area of Ebonyi State confessed matcheting the deceased to death because she accused him of stolen a phone which infuriated him’, the statement said.
Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi said, as at the time of filing this report the suspect confessed further that he cut off the woman’s two hands because she wanted to struggle the cutlass with him..
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
