Inspector General of Police order arrest of Seun Kuti for assaulting policeman

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the arrest of Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, son of the late legend musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti for allegedly assaulting a police officer in uniform.

Penpushing reports that a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the order of the immediate arrest of the musician was passed to the Lagos State Police Commissioner of Police

The statement added that the Inspector General of Police has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

Penpushing further reports that the police boss assured Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.

The report has captured in a viral video showed how the Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist assaulted the police operative on duty, while he (Kuti) was seen lambasting the policeman after slapping him, but the policemen kept his cool

Penpushing also reports that the musician was heard in the video telling the police man that he was crazy and mad, and landed slap on him, while a source said Kuti’s car was stopped by the police officer on an expressway in Lagos, which did not go down well with him.
