I stole cartons of beer during attack on police station, suspected looter confesses

A suspect in the violent attack launched on  Divisional Police Headquarters in Iseyin, Oyo State, in wake of the protests against police brutality, Raheem Toheeb has disclosed that he carted away two cartons of beer during the attack.

Penpushing reports that, the 28 year old suspected hoodlums made the confession while being paraded alongside other eight suspects by the Oyo State Police Command at Eleyele, Ibadan, adding that the alcohol were distributed among other alleged hoodlums.

The suspect also disclosed that, he made away with the station’s generator but was returned after the youths leader in the town announced to return all the looted properties, but, however denied being among the people that set the station ablaze.

Penpushing further reports that, the Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu while parading the suspects gave their identities as include; Taoreed Hamsat, Tajudeen Ibrahim, Moshood Fatai, Musibau Abubakar, Sikiru Aliu, Fasasi Fatai, Isiaka Olaniyi, Raheem Toheeb, and Adeleke Akeem.

The commissioner affirmed that the suspects were among the people who carted away the police ammunitions in various looted stations in the state, adding that  among the properties stolen by the suspects are; one generating set, Nino wall clock belonging to the Division, One Bajaj motorcycle, one Hero 125 motorcycle, and a TVS motorcycle with registration number; DGB215QK.

“Consequent upon the looted stations, six police officers were gruesomely murdered five divisional police headquarters, police patrol vehicles were burnt down and exhibits looted in exhibits room with many police arms and and ammunition carted away due to activities of criminals elements who capitalized on the protest to perpetrate their heinous crimes’,Enwonwu said

“Nevertheless, the Oyo state police command have arrested no fewer than nine suspected arsonists and looters for allegedly attacking the divisional police headquarters, Iseyin and setting the station ablaze under the pretext of #endsars# protest that lingered for many days’, he added.

“In light of this, the command would continue to put up spirited efforts to arrest all other hoodlums who have carried out massive looting and coordinated attack on police stations and personnel”, he said
