Humanitarian Group organizes training for accident rescue marshals

The Road Accident Information and Rescue Organisation has organized training for its officials on best way to handle and safe lives of accident victims on Nigeria roads, with many of the roads identified as death traps.

Penpushing reports that, the training was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT) in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, where various lectures were delivered by the Nigeria  Police Force, Red Cross Society , National Orientation Agency(NOA),Vehicle Inspection Agency and Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).

The training tagged, ’Basic Life Saving Training’ attracted number of rescue marshals, with certificates issued to them, as well as the unveiling of the organization’s emblem and emergency rescue card and decoration of officials.

Penpushing further reports that, National Rescue Commander, Commander Bamgboye Okanlawon in his welcome speech pointed out that the training was significant, to re-energize the marshals in rescue operations.

‘The situation of road crashes has become source of worry and concern in Nigeria and continues to claim more   innocent lives. Accident victims need immediate help after the crash before the arrival of ambulance’, he stated

The commander said the organization has always been making continuous effort to address carnage on the roads, environment and to serve as an advocacy group for safety consciousness among road users, as well as to render humanitarian services in the country to complement the efforts of emergency service providers.

‘It is a sad situation when we see a victim of road accident and people around folding their hands and look helplessly. These are the wrong things to do at that moment. We can overcome such bad situation if many Nigerians can get involved in the training for them to have basic knowledge for proper handling of accident victims before ambulance arrives’, Okanlawon stated

Penpushing also reports that, the organization boss disclosed that for proper care and to add more value to human lives, it has established Emergency Rescue Information Control Centre with the following dedicated numbers 07034640202 and 08125740204

‘We have designed the Emergency Rescue Data Card to register all categories of road users. Emergency rescue data is a welfare and emergency medical identification card to ameliorate the suffering of unfortunate road accident victims in Nigeria. It is like having personal medical file at all time’, he stated.
