Hoodlums attack, loot police station in Ibadan

Hoodlums on Tuesday took advantage of the ongoing protest against police brutality to launched attack of the Ojoo police station in Ibadan, and made away with number of items which include generator, plasma television, air condition, phones, and other accessories

Penpushing reports that the attack was said to be the fallout of clash between the police and hoodlums alleged to have filtrated the protest, a development which resulted in the death of eight persons and about ten vehicles set ablaze

The hoodlums allegedly barricaded the Ojoo end of the Oyo/Ibadan express way extorting money from innocent motorist plying the road, a development which caused gridlock for some hours

 Penpushing further reports that, private vehicles were not left out of the forceful payment  as they have to pay between N50 to N100, while commercial vehicles such as buses, lorries and trailer were forced to pay between N100 to N200 before they can be allowed to go

The Governor  Engr. Seyi Makinde, following the incident has announced the deployment of operatives of the ‘Operation Burst,’ a state-backed security outfit comprising soldiers, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police, to all flash points of violence in the town so as to restore normalcy and maintain peace.

Penpushing also reports, a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa,  noted that operatives of the ‘Operation Burst’ would continue to be on ground to protect legitimate and peaceful  protesters, warning that the state would not allow unscrupulous elements to hijack the protests and terrorise residents of the state.
