Governor Yahaya wins second term in office

The Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has been re-elected for another term in office having won the Saturday’s Governorship election under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) with342, 821 votes.

Penpushing reports that the results declared by the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Officer, Prof Maimuna Waziri showed that Yahaya’s opponent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Muhammad Jibiri Barde, scored 233,131 votes.

The reports as announced by the electoral commission showed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with a margin of 74,493 votes, with 618,231 voters accredited while the total votes cast were 616745

Penpushing further reports that Waziri, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Gashua, said there were 1575794 registered voters in the state, adding that the total valid votes were 605,355, while a total of 11,390 votes were rejected.
