Former council chairman in Ogun state, Dare Gbolahan, ‘serubawon’ dies at 74

The former Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government in Ogun State, under the administration of former Governor Segun Osoba,  Dare Gbolahan, popularly called ‘Serubawon’ has been reported dead at 74

Penpushing reports that, Chairman, Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government, Ayodeji Shomide confirmed this sad development in a condolence message made available to journalists on Monday, described the sudden demise of the erstwhile chairman as a great loss not only to the local government, but to Ogun State at large.

The Council boss in the statement signed by the Information Officer, Kolawole Shodeinde said he was deeply touched when he received the news of the demise of former local government boss who chaired in the year 1999 to 2002, adding that the deceased immensely contributed to the socio-economic development of the State and will be ever remembered for all his good work.

Penpushing further reports that he stressed that throughout his life time which was very remarkable, he was known to retain the humble and unassuming mien of a political technocrat and as a leader, and equally gained the respect of all and sundry during his tenure, describing the deceased as an amiable personality, a bridge builder whose vacuum created by his demise will be difficult to fill in.

The statement said the transition committee chairman, however joined the people of the local government and other well-meaning Nigerians to pray that the Almighty Allah grants the soul of late Gbolahan eternal rest and the members of his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Penpushing reports that,, the late politician referred to as  Serubawon in political circle  died at the Federal Medical Centre(FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta was buried at 4.00pm on Monday, according to Islamic rites in his Obantoko residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
