Fire ignited by attendant burns masquerade to death

A masquerade has been burnt to death at Ogbunike community, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State during the annual Eli’m Ede’ Cultural Festival while trying to display a skill to attract attention.

Penpushing reports that, an eyewitness said the masquerade pathfinder while leading the masquerade to  the  event, where masquerades of various sizes and shapes gather at the village square to entertain indigenes, pulled a fire stunt in  front of the masquerade, who was sitting on the ground, but immediately extinguished it

The witness said  unknown to the pathfinder the fire  entered the raffia costume worn by the masquerade, and before they could put it off, it spread all over the body of the masquerade, causing serious burns.

Penpushing further reports that, the masquerade was later rushed to the hospital , but all  frantic efforts to salvage the development and safe life of the masquerade by the hospital management  proved abortive, but thereafter  gave up the ghost
