FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE SOLAR POWER IN NIGERIAN MARKETS, OSINBAJO

“We are trying to decentralized power generation and distribution in Nigeria. The meaning of this for example is that today I was at the Gbagi market in Ibadan and I tell you that very soon we are starting solar power for the entire market, so for the whole people at the market they would have their own solar power with their meters, we are doing this and we are going to do it across the whole country for all our markets’, he added.

“If you have been following me I was at the Sabo Gari market in Kano where we are also putting solar power at the market there, we are also going to the general market in Aba to install their own solar power there, and all other several markets we have’.

“The whole idea is that we are trying to make all the markets clusters in our country to have their own power generation separately and the eligible customers declaration will make the industrial hubs and those in the estates have their own power so they don’t need to rely on the national grid’.

‘And we are now going to license a power provider to provide power for the those estates, and industrial hubs on willing to buy willing to sell basis, this country is too large to have just one power source as grid and I believe with all this alternatives the households will now continue to have uninterrupted power supply’ Osinbajo explained.
