FALLOUT OF TICKET DENIAL: OGUN ASSEMBLY MAJORITY LEADER, 3 OTHERS DEFECT TO ALLIED PEOPLES MOVEMENT

The defectors in their separate letters declared that they took the positions because of what they described as party’s injustice during the primary congress to elect the All Progressives Congress(APC), flagbeaerers, which robbed them the chances of representing the party in the forthcoming general election.

Penpushing further reports that, the defected lawmakers also accused the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party of injustice ,hence, the resolve to join a new platform, and also explained  that they took the decisions after due consultation with their constituents and supporters.

However, a member of the Assembly, Hon Olakunle Oluomo (APC-Ifo1), who is the Deputy Speaker, stated order 10 of the House rule, which stated that the ruling party must present the majority leader.

Penpushing also reports that, the lawmaker explained  that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) still has 13 members out of 26 which cut across other political parties in the House, and therefore  deserved the right to produce the majority leader.

The lawmaker, however, called on the defected majority leader to resign his position, to pave way for the election of new majority leader, as a way to avoid vacuum.

Penpushing further reports that the Speaker, Hon Suraj Adekunbi in response to the development stated that the issue would be ironed out at the caucus level, and also wished the defectors well in their new party.
