Enugu state government: Our priority is investing in our human resources, says Governor Mbah
The Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has disclosed that 300,000 hectares of land bank project by his administration is already attracting positive investors with about 67,000 hectares already taken by private.
Penpushing reports that Mbah made this known while addressing Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), explaining that the essence of the Land Bank Project it is to boost local economy, agriculture and provide jobs for the people.”
The Governor added that as part of the state’s plan to strategically position its economy beyond solid minerals, his administration had cultivated 35 hectares of land for cocoa in Isi – Uzo Local government area.
Penpushing further reports that Mbah explained that to tackle its 8% poverty level, the state is investing massively in social services to achieve a projected zero per cent level, pointing out that the social services receiving priority attention in this regard are education, health, and efficient internal security measures
The Governor stated that in education, the government, through its smart School Green Project, is approaching education differently packaging it as the wealth of the state beyond solid minerals.
Penpushing also reports that he said building the states’ children into a reservoir of healthy and qualitative human resources with a child of age 3 as its target index is of utmost importance.
“Our method of teaching, experiential system, is informed by a robust and extensive research to have such components as robotics, artificial intelligence and virtual realities among others, adding that the class room is being turned into creativity hall by teaching through practice’, he stated
Penpushing reports that Mbah said approximately 18,000 educators are undergoing training in this regard, and speaking on security, he explained that the first phase of its Command and Control Internal Security Architecture had already captured 7 local governments, while the remaining 9 will be covered in its phase 2 currently being worked upon.
The Governor described the state as the most peaceful and secured in the zone, and when asked if he has plans to defect the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)expressed optimism that the crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would hopefully be resolved, emphasizing that he still remains in the party, adding that in 2027 the people will have to decide whether to renew his mandate or to kick him out
“It is also clear from the people of Enugu State that we are in this to serve them. So we have focused largely on governance. I believe that at the end of the day, the people would have to decide whether they want to renew our mandate or kick us out’, Mbah added
