EID-EL-FITR: FUN, RAZZMATAZZ AS BILLIONAIRE PRINCE GBADEBO DOLES OUT GIFTS TO HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN

He said this motivated him to begin the construction of the civic centre on his mass land situated in front of his palatial residential building, adding that since then, it has become twin annual events, comprising Eid-Fitri and Eid Kabir.

‘When we started, it was with children of my extended family who do come on visit during the festive periods, and when going they go with various gifts, until one day when my wife observed children in our neighbourhood were also catching the fun from outside the compound’, he said

‘My wife further noticed that when the children of my extended family were going back to their homes, those in the neighbourhood look at them with astonishment, and my wife now thought of extending the gestures beyond the family affairs, and I wholeheartedly approved, and has now become annual events’.

Gbadebo said as the event became annual, he decided to improve on it, with the introduction of competitions among the kids, which now attracts various gifts, which also include cash for all outstanding kids.

Similarly, during an interview, the Organising Chairman of the ceremony, Mrs Morufat Dosunmu-Mustapha corroborated the story of the sponsor on how the journey of the events started, ,adding that a scholarship has equally being introduced to it for the indigents.

The Organising boss, who is a teacher with UAMC Primary School at Ijemo, Abeokuta disclosed that some pupils have been penciled down for the scholarship as beneficiaries from the next academic session,

She further explained that, the programme is not just about food and gifts alone, adding that the get together of the children to catch fun together also played major roles in making life meaningfuf for them, stating that as the events became popular, children now come from far and near to be part of the joy and funfare.
