Egba Royal Sisters Brothers Club honours Iyalode Alaba Lawson two years after passage

The first Lady Club in Egbaland, known as Egba Royal Sisters and Brothers worldwide on Tuesday gathered in organizing a memorial service for Iyalode of Yorubaland, and known philanthropist, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson who died two years ago, as well as appreciate the deceased enduring legacies.

Penpushing reports that the club was led by its President Princess Bolatito Mulikat Ayorinde, at the low-keyed ceremony held at the private residence of the deceased located at Quarry Road area of Abeokuta.

There were also deceased family members and well-wishers who came to be part of the remembrance service to celebrate Lawson’s remarkable contributions to womanhood, education, and community development among others

Penpushing further reports that the programme featured prayers led by Pastor Ebenezer Omonayajo of the Redeemed Christian Witness Church, Ijeja Stadium, Abeokuta, the state capital, as well as heartfelt tributes, songs, and prayers, all reflecting the indelible records of Alaba Lawson left on her community.

The President of the club in her speech emphasized that the late Alaba Lawson was a pillar of strength and a true mother to many, recalling how she stood firm with the club during challenging times.

“There was a time people said the Egba Royal Ladies Club would not stand. But Mama told us to keep our minds at rest that nothing would shake the club. Truly, without her, there would be no Egba Royal Ladies Club’, Ayorinde stated

Penpushing also reports that Oreoluwa Olushola Obey-Fabiyi, son of the deceased in an interview, described his late mother as a great fearless woman, full of strength, caring and disciplined.

‘It’s been two years since she left us, and it hasn’t been easy. But we give God the glory. Our businesses and the schools are doing well. We miss her every day, but we are comforted by her memory’, he added

The founder of Penpushing Media who was the deceased Media Adviser, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji who was also in attendance at the ceremony said Lawson remained forever in his memory, having contributed positively to his developmental growth.

Penpushing reports that the renowned journalist disclosed that there is no day he doesn’t remember the late Lawson, because there is no day he doesn’t drive pass through her school area.

‘I recalled I took time one day to check her tomb which was well designed and befitting, but on standing in front of the tomb to appreciate her, I don’t know how I started crying profusely before I was help out of the premises. Honestly, my life story won’t be completed without making reference to Oluwaseun Alaba Lawson. I prayed her soul continued to rest in perfect peace’, Kayode-Adedeji emphasized

Penpushing further reports that Lawson passed away on October 28, 2023, and was a renowned educationist, businesswoman, and community leader and as Iyalode(Women leader) she championed the course of women empowerment and education, establishing schools and organizations that continue to impact lives across Ogun State and beyond.
