DIMEJI BANKOLE SPEAKS ON NEED TO STRENTHEN TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS FOR NATION’S GROWTH

He said, if elected as the Governor, he would ensure a conducive relationship exists between the Nigeria Customs Services and Traditional Rulers within the border communities, to avoid frequent reported cases of clash between the residents and customs officials.

Speaking with journalists after his meeting with Yewa Council of Traditional Rulers led by the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, in Ilaro, pointed out that to improve the nation’s revenue, customs and border communities must work hand in hands

The Governorship Candidate further noted that a situation where border community and customs officials are fighting with each other would not augur well for the nation, stating that while Customs are expected to carry out its constitutional responsibilities in accordance with the laws that established the outfit, right to life is a fundamental human right which must be respected at all times and the protection of lives and property is a major responsibility of government.

Penpushing further reports that, Bankole emphasized that as the Governor,” under my watch, protection of lives will be given utmost attention”, and also maintained that traditional rulers are the closest to the people and understand their plight more than anybody else.

“If they are well funded and assigned responsibilities that will not bring the stool to disrepute, development of our communities will be rapid”, and  assured the people of Yewaland and indeed those living in boarder communities in the State of adequate protection.

“I served this country at the highest level. We know those that we should talk to. I will ensure that we do all that is necessary to bring Custom operatives and our people together to avoid the unnecessary loss of lives.
