Cultism: arrested federal polytechnic students union government president begs school management to come to his aid

The President of the students Union Government of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro ,  Adegboye Olatunji who was arrested for allegedly aiding cultism and supervising initiation of new members into the cult has called on the school authorities to come to his aide at his trying period, rather than abandoning him.

Penpushing reports that, the suspect made the appeal on Tuesday while being paraded at the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta denying any role on the alleged crime he was arrested for,  emphasising that he was surprised that the school management disowned him suddenly, without taking time to properly investigate the alleged crime that landed him in police net.

The suspect  who has been suspended by the polytechnic management as the students Union leader, told journalists that he was not into cult as been alleged, saying he’s known to be in the forefront of fighting cultists and cultism in school, adding that he was arrested on the night he was going to Church.

Penpushing further reports that, Olatunji  said the vigilante who earlier arrested him put the cult regalia on him, before he was later handed over to the police, lamenting that he was preparing for his examination before his ordeal.

The suspect also called on his parents to come to his aide, and not let him rot in detention, adding that he’s known of good conduct by his family and neighbours, as well as his colleagues in school, and also expressed shock that executive members of Students Union Government also failed to show up

Penpushing recalled that the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi had on Monday, said the students’ leader was arrested alongside another accomplice Olarewaju Taiwo on Sunday.

The Police said the duo were arrested following an information received by Police at Ilaro Division from members of the public that some group of people suspected to be cultists were sighted in a bush at Gbogidi area of Ilaro where they were trying to initiate new members into their dreaded group.

‘On receiving the information, the DPO Ilaro division, CSP Olayemi Jacob mobilized his patrol team and swiftly moved to the scene where the two suspects were arrested with the assistance of members of the public while others escaped through the bush’”, Oyeyemi said

The statement added that, the two arrested cultists who are in full regalia of the dreaded black axe cult group ‘were later taken to custody at Ilaro Divisional Headquarters where they are being currently interrogated.
