Coronavirus pandemic: Please allow us to hold crossover night service, Christian Association begs Governor Abiodun

The Ogun State Chapter of  Christian Association of Nigeria,(CAN), has written to Governor Dapo Abiodun, passionately begging him(Governor)  to allow churches in conducting  crossover service on the new year eve on Thursday.

Penpushing reports that, government had earlier issued a statement  cancelling such service and other social gatherings  in view of the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, stressing the need to avoid spread of the virus, particularly known to occurred at large gathering , with worship centres inclusive/

The Chairman of the Christian body, Pastor Tunde Akin-Akinsanya  in reaction to the order. in a letter titled, ‘A Passionate Appeal for  Observance Crossover Night” delivered  to the Governor and copies available to journalists on Sunday, explained that the religious leaders have met and resolved to strictly adhered to the coronavirus protocols as the service lasted

“In view of the second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic and its consequent restrictions on religious activities across the State, there have been so much calls and appeals by the Church leaders for the observance of Cross-Over Night on 31st December, 2020”, Akin–Akinsanya stated

“To this end, I hereby write on behalf of the leadership and entire structure of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ogun State, to solicit for the indulgence of Your Excellency to allow for the observance of the Cross-Night among the Churches in Ogun State, just as it is the in our neighbouring Lagos State”, he said

Penpushing further reports that, the association noted that in the spirit of operating in consonance with coronavirus  protocols, “it is our plan and request: that churches be allowed to start the cross-over night service by 10:30pm on 31st December, 2020 and end it by 12:15am on 1st January, 2021’.

*That the worshippers be allowed movement back to their places of abode between 12:15am and 1:00am on 1st January, 2021.That the churches shall put in place and observe all the necessary COVID-19 Protocols as released by the Government.

 Penpushing also reports that, the association leadership emphasised that churches in the state shall be very happy and grateful to the Governor to grant the request, praying that the Lord will continue to help the governor band his  entire team to move the  state forward.
