Coronavirus: Ogun state government extends palliatives to security personnel

The Ogun State Government on Monday provided palliatives for security operatives working in state, a gesture said to be part of efforts to appreciate them during the lockdown.

Penpushing reports that, the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele while making the donations on behalf of the Government said the security forces in the state are also family men who have to deal with not only the professional part of their job, but have to deal and support their families at all time.

The Deputy Governor  said that immediately this lockdown commenced, the governor had a meeting with all the security chiefs to determine how best to manage the situation in the state, noting that within the period of lockdown, the state have had several challenges to the security architectures in the state which have been managed by security forces in the state.

‘’At the beginning we do give them some cash to be able to support their officers who were on special assignment, but today, we are now giving them palliative food items to support that as well and this will go to everybody, not just the police on the frontline who were supported with cash before but this will go to everybody in all their barracks right across the state.

‘We have here about 15 different agencies represented, the Police, Army, Customs, Immigration, TRACE, NDLEA, Civil Defence, DSS, So safe, others, so this is all encompassing relief package. We have given 6000 bags of rice, 6000 bags of garri, 6000 bags of mealet, 6000 bags of maize, seasoning cubes, sanitisers, detergents and sanitary towels for their wives’’ she explained

Penpushing further reports that, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (Rtd) earlier in his welcome address said the State government was passionate about the welfare of officers and men of security agencies, noting that the relief materials were extended to them as a show of appreciation.

The National Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Commandant Ahmed Abodunrin, in vote of thanks on behalf of security agencies appreciated the state government for being people friendly, noting that  the palliative measures would aid them to re-double their efforts at ensuring the safety of lives and Properties of the residents, assuring of continued commitments to service delivery.
