Coronavirus: Enugu State Government designates 200 beds diagnostic centre in additional isolation centres

The Enugu State Government has designated the State’s multi-billion naira diagnostic centre, a 200-bed facility as an isolation facility will work simultaneously with four other isolation centres in the State for coronavirus patients.

Penpushing reports that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi disclosed this during the touring of the isolation centres and handing over of the diagnostic centre by the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The Coordinator of the State’s multi-sectoral COVID-19 Rapid Response Committee, said  the government has put in place facilities to combat coronavirus in case of any upsurge in the State,adding that the former colliery hospital, is under going extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction to expand the State capacity for Coronavirus Disease Isolation and treatment

 Penpushing further reports that, Agujiobi  stated that the State Government will not rest on its oars in containing this ravaging Public Health challenge and appeals for maximum cooperation and understanding of all residents in the State at this critical time.

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that, State Government is collaborating with all Local Government Council Chairmen to identify and designate Isolation and Treatment Centres in their respective Local Government Areas to ensure their preparedness in the event of possible spike in the Coronavirus Disease burden within the state.

Penpushing reports that, the government team  later proceeded to Nsukka Local Government Area where another isolates centre, which has been put in place was formally handed over to the State’s COVID-19 team.

Meanwhile, the  Governor was  in  accompany of Security Chiefs -Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Garrison Commander 82 Division Nigerian Army, Director, Department of State Services, Enugu State, Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Enugu State and Enugu State Chief Fire Officer when visited the centres
