Condolence: Amosun keeps mum over death of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s father

The former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has kept mute since the announcement on the death of the father of his successor which occurred in Manchester, United Kingdom over two weeks ago

Penpushing reports that Governor Dapo Abiodun in a statement which was widely reported in the media disclosed that his father, Pa Emmanuel Abiodun died on Monday August 2, 2021at 89 after a brief illness.

The bereaved Governor has since the announcement been receiving condolence messages from various individuals, groups,  associations and corporate bodies, but as at the time of filing this report, precisely two weeks after the demise of elder Abiodun, Amosun was yet to turn up nor forward a condolence letter, as investigation revealed.

Penpushing further reports that in same vein, investigation revealed that Senator Tolu Odebiyi representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, a known political godson of Amosun and former Chief of Staff has also remain aloof in paying a condolence visit to the bereaved Governor.

The findings of Penpushing media, however, revealed that Senator Lekan Mustapha, representing Ogun East Senatorial District, where the Governor hails from, on Friday paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Iperu

The administration of the immediate past Governor and now a serving Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly handed over to Governor Dapo Abiodun, while record has it that it was a political war between the duo before eventual emergence of Abiodun as the Governor.

Penpushing also reports that both Amosun and Abiodun were known to be best friends before politics tore them apart, which became more pronounced during the build up to the Governorship election, as Amosun declared that he would not see Abiodun emerging as the Governor.

The reasons for Amosun stands against his known best friend was not made public till now, while Abiodun on his own part has not come out to tell the world why Amosun worked against his political interest to take over from him as Governor.

Penpushing reports that, it is recalled that in the build up to the Governorship election, Amosun as sitting Governor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), encouraged his supporters to pitch their tents with an ‘alien’ Allied People Movement (APM) in the state.

The angry  Amosun  who could not  have his way at the national headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to get Abiodun disqualified by the party,  however, secured a ticket for his choice candidate and proposed successor, Akinlade to contest under the platform of Allied Peoples Movement(APM), but the party lost to All Progressives Congress(APC)
